The North Korean government has started to openly criticize the measures the South Korean government has taken in response to the railway worker union strike through an organization called the South Joseon Human Rights Crisis Organization. They are accusing the South Korean government of being "heinous slaughterers of human rights" and "challenging the human rights and the right to survival of the people." They also urged unions to keep up the struggle and keep fighting against the government.

This attitude seems to stem in part from the Marxist roots of the North Korean regime's philosophy, focused on empowering the everyday workers in their struggles against their capitalist superiors.

Although South Korea is of course not perfect , there is much more cause to be alarmed at the way that North Korea is treating its own citizens and the practices that go on in political prisoner camps. It seems that these measures by the North Korean government are in response to the efforts of both the South Korean government and the international community to call attention to these human rights violations. Instead of trying to detract attention from its own actions by calling out the misdemeanor of others, North Korea should acknowledge that there are still rights violations happening within their borders and actively take steps toward making the lives of their people better.
